How to Book a Session Date and Additional Information

Down Payment

A $50 non-refundable down payment is required to secure the date. The balance is due on the day of the session. We accept cash, check or credit card. The $50 non-refundable down payment can be used for a future session if you decide to cancel your portrait session.

All edited images will also be on this gallery where you can order additional prints if you wish. Your online gallery will expire after 6 months. To renew your online gallery, it will be an additional $100 for another duration of 6 months.

Images will be posted on the gallery 7 days or less after the session and the link will also be sent to you via email.

Preparation

Professional Hair and Makeup is recommended. I recommend calling a few days prior to the day of your portrait session and set an appointment at least 2 hours before your session.

Choose an outfit that flatters your figure and don’t forget to accessorize. Try to avoid flat black or plain white, instead wear something with color. Bring clothing from formal to casual. I usually suggest nice summer dresses for the ladies with accessories and for the guys, I love bow ties, suspenders, plaid, and converse shoes. So have fun, be creative, be bold and most importantly, be yourself.

Locations

All portrait sessions are set outdoors. You have two choices, something urban (downtown, city, buildings, brick walls, etc.) or something of nature (trees, high grass, vineyards, beach). I have two “go-to” nature settings located in Orcutt, CA. However, if you would like something else that fits more of your personality, I am more than happy to fulfill and brainstorm about it. Please check travel fee section above. The session will start an 1-2 hours before sunset when the light is best. It can start anywhere between 330pm to 7pm, depending what time of year and location.

Style and Theme

When I cover weddings I approach it as if I was telling a story. I love capturing the day in a photo journalistic style. I love it when it’s real and natural as oppose to awkward poses. That’s also the goal for these high senior portraits. Not everyone loves the camera including myself, so I will expect you to be nervous and have no idea what to do. I will lead you in a pose, but what I want to capture is you being yourself. Some of my clients have left it up to me where to shoot, but if you have a hobby of some sort, I’d love to hear it. For example if you love to surf, there is no question why we should not shoot your photos at a beach and with your surfboard. If you love horses, why not shoot at a barn and possibly with a horse. Ideas are endless. If you have a vision of something, don’t be afraid to let me know about it. Also, I always thought bringing props to the session can put you in ease, so think about that as well.
